Blogging for Books

I have enjoyed participating in WaterBrook Multnomah's Blogging for Books program over the past several months--I mean, what could be better than free books?  OK, maybe free books and free chocolate...
The Chocolate Diaries: Secrets for a Sweeter Journey on the Rocky Road of Life

Seriously, though, I've mentioned before that I find it difficult to stay focused enough to actually finish reading an entire nonfiction book, but the accountability of participating in this program has enabled me to finish five in the past several months, as well as one that wasn't a part of the program.

Due to changes in the program, in order to be offered actual physical books to read and review, I need to achieve a minimum rank of my reviews.  And I will not be reading and reviewing ebooks--sorry folks, it's not gonna happen.  The threshold is actually pretty low; I know that with your help I can get there.  All you need to do is rank my reviews.  Pretty simple, isn't it?

So if you've enjoyed reading my reviews, even a little bit, please use the embedded forms below to rank them (if you read my blog via email, you may have to actually go to my blog in order to use the forms).  You will need to enter a valid email address, but it's only used to verify that I'm not trying to artificially inflate my review ranking, unless you check the box to receive updates.  My next review, of The Chocolate Diaries, will be coming later this week.

  1. Do you need high ratings? Or do you just need people to rate you? I'm wondering if it helps even if you get a really bad score. (not that I would ever give you a bad score).

This rating system is anonymous, isn't it?

  2. I need to meet an overall rating threshold, so just a certain number of cumulative stars. I could reach it with all bad scores, but I can reach it much faster with all good scores :)

And yes, it's anonymous--you're safe...of course now I'll know if I get low marks they're from you.

  3. Well, I gave you honest scores. The SheppyBrew Brew Master just went through and gave you all 5's. I guess he really liked your reviews.

I'm not sure if the Brew Master's scores got added on because none of the totals went up after he put his score in. But, maybe the widget doesn't factor in your own score so that you are only seeing what everyone else put. I didn't notice if the totals went up when I went through and did my scores.

Anyway ... how close are you? I have a few more personalities that I can ask to come by here.

  4. Hmmm... I just moved to another computer that I've never used to rate one of your reviews. I'm thinking that it didn't add "my" rank nor the Brew Master's. Does it take awhile for the rankings to be applied? I did all mine yesterday. The Brew Master did his (on a different computer) this morning.

  5. Email verification needed to be done. Forget the last comment.

But, I am still curious ... how close are you to the threshold?

  6. My thanks to esheppy and the Brew Master...

I think the threshold was 75 total review points, so I believe we shattered it. I'll know for sure later this week when I attempt to request my next review copy.
